Sam Kogan, Ph.D.

Dr. Kogan's more than 25 years of experience in Research & Development play a key role to his success in leading the firm's operations. Dr. Kogan oversees all GE projects and initiatives, including GE Global Research, GE Appliances and GE Energy. He has led innovation projects for Fortune 500 companies worldwide including Siemens, Colgate Palmolive, and Ingersoll Rand. In addition, Dr. Kogan serves as a strategic and technical advisor to several VC Funds and startup companies. He has played a key role in the development of GEN3's proprietary methodology.
Before joining GEN3, Dr. Kogan was COO and co-founder of Pragmatic Vision International. In addition to overseeing the firm's operations, he helped develop client management strategies in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim. Prior to Pragmatic Vision, he was the Director of Innovation Consulting Services at Invention Machine Corp.
Dr. Kogan is a recognized thought leader in the areas of innovation for sustainability and innovation in IP. He frequently speaks at conferences around the world, delivering a unique perspective on topics ranging from the globalization of R&D, technologies for emerging markets, R&D and innovation management, clean energy and energy storage. Dr. Kogan has led programs at ICI and Plastpolymer Corp and gives regular lectures at Harvard Business School, Stern Business School at NYU, and Fuqua Business School at Duke University. He is also a member of the strategy committee for IRI.
Dr. Kogan's work has been adopted by companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Nippon Chemi Con, Chiquita, Moen, Honda, Motorola and Hilti. He is the author of over 15 patents and 50 published articles.
Education & Professional Certifications
Dr. Kogan has a Ph.D. in Material Science from the Institute of Macromolecular Science, Leningrad, Russia and an M.S., cum laude, in Applied Physics from Polytechnic University in Leningrad, Russia. He is a Six-Sigma Specialist and Certified Level 4 TRIZ Practitioner.
